Planning ahead makes all the difference on race weekend. These practical tips will help you stay comfortable, organised, and fully focused on the on-track action at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
You’ll find a wide range of concessions around the speedway, serving favourites like nachos, burgers, and hot dogs. On race weekends, extra independent vendors often add options such as pizza, barbecue, and more. Coffee, soft drinks, beer, and water are widely available.
Keep in mind you cannot bring alcohol into the venue. Each guest may bring one food item (for example, a sandwich, crackers, crisps, or fruit) – family-sized bags aren’t permitted. You may also bring one bottle of a non-alcoholic drink. More details are in the Rules for Visitors section.
Before you set off, download or screenshot the essentials: tickets, parking info, and the weekend schedule. Mobile networks can slow down significantly with big crowds, so don’t rely on having a strong signal everywhere. If you’re attending in a group, agree on a clear meeting point and a backup time in case you get separated.
Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s 1.5-mile tri-oval produces loud, high-speed action, and the grandstands can intensify the sound. When the Cup cars are at full throttle, it can be seriously uncomfortable without protection. Earplugs are a smart idea for everyone, and kids should always wear proper hearing protection.
If you’re arriving by taxi or using rideshare services like Uber, head for Lot 5 on the south side of the track near Entry 10 – this is the designated pick-up and drop-off area.
March in Las Vegas is usually warm and dry, but it can swing a lot between day and night. Expect daytime temperatures typically around the high 60s to low/mid 70s °F (about 20–24 °C), while evenings can drop to roughly the upper 40s to low 50s °F (about 9–11 °C). A light jacket for late sessions is worth packing, and a thin poncho can help just in case of a brief shower. Hydration still matters in the desert air – bring water (within the venue rules) and use fountains on site. Sunscreen, a cap, and sunglasses will make the day far more comfortable.
